I want to start by thanking you. You show up every day (or as often as you can) to write, work, teach, and communicate in a way that brings help and transformation to the communities and clients you serve. You actually give a crap about creating safety and support for people—whether you help them write their first novel, navigate tricky career changes, heal their mental state, start or manage a meaningful business, or grow their own food from scratch. I thank you for not being a part of what makes the Internet a dangerous mess. I thank you for being a part of what makes it beautiful. And, I thank you for eagerly, excitedly pursuing your life’s work through all the obstacles society places in front of you. Speaking of obstacles. I want to say that I’m sorry. I’m sorry if you live in a community or country where you do not feel safe. I’m sorry if you work in an office or city where you can’t just be. I’m sorry if you live amongst neighbors whose values around human rights absolutely baffle you. I’m sorry if this is a depressing or hard time. I heard recently that de-pression is when you need deep-rest. Deep rest from a facade/avatar you created to please others. Deep rest from a society and systems that are set up against you. Deep rest. So today, or this month, or this next year (or 4) . . . whether you feel like you need deep rest or you feel you have the capacity to double down on your fight for human rights, common decency, and the meaningful work you do . . . I want you to know that I love your work. If your work is solving complex problems (in your industry/society), helping people grow/heal, helping people embrace curiosity and explore their passions, helping people build meaningful things, or helping people create better conditions/cultures at work, home, or in their communities . . . I am your #1 fan. Your work is more important than ever now.People need healing. They need your help pursuing meaningful projects. They need curiosity. They need hope. They need sensible and safe communities they can be a part of online and IRL. We need updated ideas. The old ways have been broken for a very long time. We need what’s in your mind and heart, but we don’t need you to hurt yourself to give it to us right now if you’re hurting. I’m here to support you whether you need to turn up or turn down right now. Over the next year I’ll be hosting free Long Story Long Conversations.Think of these as safe spaces where we come together panel/community style and all weigh in on important business decisions and needs. Some topics I’ve been considering proposing to the community are:
If there are any topics you’d like to discuss with the group, or suggest that we address all together, please let me know what you’re thinking. I’ll email you again to announce the official launch of our Long Story Long hub, so for now I just wanted to say thank you, and I’m sorry. Regina P.S. If you haven't signed up for it yet, this on-demand class on publishing projects that bring a high return on investment is a super helpful place to start. Also, if you plan to write a book in the next year, this free resource on publishing 1 of 3 types of thought leadership books might help. |
Emails and strategies for people doing their life's work.
My goal is for you to feel much better about sales after you're done reading this email. And if you do, please hit reply and let me know. Or, hit reply with any questions you have. Let's start ↓. There are four experiences every buyer (of a mid-ticket to high-ticket program or service) deserves before they decide to buy. These experiences are like four different dimensions of trust . . . that you can build into how you sell. [They also map to four answers you deserve as the seller . . . to...
Imagine you come to the website of a thought leader in the realm of writing successful novels that feature marginalized main characters. And imagine that publishing such a novel is a goal of yours. The first thing you notice on their website is a bold statement in the header that speaks to a key approach or opinion they have in their industry that no other coaches or experts in their industry have. After you read the statement, you’re like: Ooh, okayyyy . . . spicy. I haven’t come across...
Can we talk really briefly about a type of product you can add to your ecosystem that will help shift your potential clients from “Convince me why I should work with you.” to “I’ve experienced your approach and I’m ready for more. What’s next?”? If you work in the realm of big ideas—as a thought leader, changemaker, coach, consultant, etc.—adding a prerequisite product (and a proof of concept product, which we’ll talk about later) to the world you’re building with your ideas . . . is a really...
